If you wrote just 10 words a day,
how long would it take to write an entire novel?
The answer: about 20 years!
Welcome to the 20-Year Novel Club, a group of newbie novelists—and published authors—dedicated to writing 10 words a day.
Here’s the thing: if you wrote just 10 words a day, it would take about 20 years to finish a full-length novel.
But of course, you’d like to finish your novel long before that.
So why would I start a writing club and tell you to write just 10 words a day?
Because just about anybody can handle 10 words a day. It’s a bare minimum—and an easy one at that.
The idea is that some days, you’ll be on a roll.
You’ll type out 10 words…and then 100, and then 1,000…and then keep on going until your fingertips are sore.
But other days, you just won’t be feeling it. It’s a fact of life.
So on those days, your job is simple: just write 10 words, and you’re done for the day. Go have fun and come back tomorrow!
And feel great that you achieved the most important thing: you showed up.
The 20-Year Novel Club is all about showing up every day, taking action every day, and making progress every day.
…and of course, meeting your fellow writers! Join us!
